Installation -

Point the Installer to your Quake III Arena directory.
Example: C:\Program Files\Quake III Arena\
Then let the installer do its work.

There are two different downloads that you could have
chosen from, basic mod, and the Full Install. The basic
mod runs at 3mb and has just the bare essiantials for
running the mod. The full install however, the one you
should have grabbed, includes everything you need to
get the full newexpert experience. It'll have the Radio
Sounds, Voice Sounds, and Color Skins!
Either way, installing is performed the same way.

If you're running Windows, just run the exe files and
follow it's simple instructions to get your download
on its way. Then after that you just need to run
"Quake3.exe +set fs_game newexpert"!
Then just use the In-Game menu to get you all ready
to go, and you'll be fragging in no time!

GameModes -

Default: The default game mode uses your vanilla Q3
settings, so you still have to collect weapons, health,
armor, etc all with regular Q3 physics.

Battle: In Battle mode you spawn into the arena fully
stocked with weapons, ready to battle to the death. Your
health and armor regenerates (both of those being optional)
so that item collecting becomes less important, making
actual combat the main factor. You'll also notice you have
more air control, and a lot more speed in your strafe jumping
(which you can turn off) to allow for gameplay at extreme speeds.

Weapon Changes -

Boucning Plasma, /g_bouncyplasma:
With this enabled on
the server, plasma will bounce off of one wall rather than
splashing as normal. Works great for firing around corners
at incoming enemies.

Super Shotty, /g_supershotty:
When this is enabled your
shotgun will fire twice rather than just once, causing a great
dose of damage to any opponent that happens to be a little
to close for comfort.

No Bounce Hand Grenades, /g_nobounceHG:
While this is enabled your HG's won't bounce, instead they'll
explode immediately on contact with anything, which is great
for tossing behind you while carrying a flag!

Triple Rail, /g_triplerail:
One rail not good enough for you? Well, how about three rails
every time you fire? That's what this command does, and
it can make short work of a tanked flag carrier.

GameTypes -

Tournament:
Just your standard tournament game.

Free For All:
Frag anything that moves!

Team Deathmatch:
Frag anything that isn't the same color as you!

Capture The Flag:
Your basic capture the flag.

Return The Flag: Similar to CTF, but instead of your flag
instantly returning to base, you have to carry it back. This
can definitely make for some interesting games, since people
can't just camp the flag spawn waiting for the return.
Now they have to catch you returning the flag!

Color Changing -

With Battle Bots you have a variety of colors that you
can choose from rather than the traditional Red and Blue
that you're accustomed to seeing. It gets even better if
you're using a map with the remap feature because then
even the map will be color coordinated along with your
selections. Let's say for instance you chose your team
logo to be green, then the trim that was blue, would turn
to green, along with your flag! However, that does require
work on the mappers part for the walls to change.

ForceColor 0 - /cg_forcecolor 0,1,2

With ForceColor set to 0, all of the color features will be
disabled, and you'll use traditional Red vs Blue. (*yawn*)

ForceColor 1 - While this is enabled you'll use the custom
flags and logos, but you'll use the default Red and Blue
team skins. For instance, you'll have black flags and banners,
but you'll still be either Red or Blue colored.

ForceColor 2 - Ah yes, the whole shabang! With this enabled
everything is turned on! The team skin colors you chose will
be on, the flags will be on, and the trim will change (if the map
has newexpert support)! Now you can play Orange vs Aqua!

Grapple -

If you're a grapple monkey like myself, then you're going to
love newexpert! newexpert brings back that wonderful grapple
that we all loved, but haven't really received much of a chance
to use in Q3. Now combined with strafe jumping in battle mode,
the grapple can help you reach insane speeds to help you
escape deadly attacks from the weapon enhancements!
Good luck though, that triple rail can knock you down pretty hard.

Configs -
Most of these settings that are in these config files can be edited
via the In-Game menu. However as of the 0.8.2 release the Radio and
Voice sounds can only be bound by using the Configs. All you'll need
to do is edit the easy to use config in the newexpert/configs directory,
and then add
+exec configs/radio.cfg and +exec configs/voice.cfg
to your command line. So it'll look similar to this:
quake3 +set fs_game newexpert +exec configs/radio.cfg +exec configs/voice.cfg.

Default.cfg: This config contains all the variables that we've covered
in the readme so far. You can adjust these as you see fit and then
exec the config when you boot up a game of newexpert.

Battle.cfg:
Same as Default.cfg just geared towards the Battle mode.

Camera.cfg:
In this configuration file you can set all the binds for the newexpert
Z-Cam to cut down on frustration when you're trying to use the camera
in game.

Colors.cfg:
Here you can quickly setup all of your color schemes.

Models.cfg:
Setup which team and enemy models that you wish to use here.

Radio.cfg:
Here's where you can set all the binds for the Team Radio sounds.
This is an immense help when you're playing a team game of sorts,
and you need to talk with your team. You never have enough time to
type out what needs to be done, but with these Team Radio sound
binds, you can quickly say what you need to say! With one quick key
press you can say "Base is Overrun!" and all your team mates will
hear you loud and clear! Just hope they actually come to rescue you..
Oh and did I mention, the bots will come to rescue you, and they will
tell you if the base is packed.

Voice.cfg:
These are similar to the Radio.cfg file, but these commands are
said outloud to everyone playing.

Scoring System -
newexpert also serves up a new scoring system to reward everyone
on the team for their part in capturing those flags! Now this scoring
system is only for CTF, and with that being said, check it out:

Flag Touch = 2 points:
If you return the flag in CTF, you get 2 points, if you pick
up the enemy flag, you get 2 points.

Flag Cap = 5-12 points:
Depending on how long you carry the flag, the more points you get.
A quick fast cap will net you 5 points.

Flag Return (Return the Flag only) = 5 points:
In RTF when you return the flag by hand, you get 5 points.

Carrier Kill = 3 points:
Kill that Flag Carrier and you get yourself 3 points.

Carrier Save = 3 points: Protect your Flag Carrier and get 3 points.
Base Defense = 1 point: Keep your base clear, net a point.

Base Defense With Flag at Base = 2 points:
Keep the flag in your base safe, and you get 2 points.

Flag Carrier Holding Flag in Own Base = 2 points:
Hold the enemy flag in your base, and stay alive, get 2 points.

Frag someone while performing the above = 1 point

Known Bugs -

Orange text not working properly in-game - Working on fixing
this tiny error.

Turning on camera from the menu or console sets the angle off -
Avoidable by setting a bind like /bind F7 "Camera On"
